Happy Anniversary Baby!

May 23rd is my wedding anniversary, and my wife and I both look back at the day we were married as one of the best days of our lives. It was an intimate gathering of family who journeyed with us to Admiralty Head Lighthouse on Whidbey Island for the wedding ceremony. We stood on a bluff overlooking the Pacific ocean and proclaimed our love and commitment to each other. The eagles cried overhead as the sun warmed our faces, our hearts warmed by love. It was truly a perfect moment— one I’ll never forget. On that day, I married my soul mate.

We’ve shared a lot of life together. I honestly think I got the better end of the deal, but she hasn’t left so our journey continues. Every couple should have a song. A song that always reminds me of my wife and our beginnings is Possession by Sarah Mclachlan. This is one of our favorite lines from her song…

And I would be the one
To hold you down
Kiss you so hard
I’ll take you’re breath away
And after I’d
Wipe away the tears
Just close your eyes dear

Tammy and I met at a wedding, so don’t ever doubt that I’m a hopeless romantic or that you can’t find love at a wedding. It happens. So does love at first sight. We have a great story and I’d be happy to share it with you sometime. Just ask me. The one constant in our ever changing lives is our commitment and love for each other and our family. It’s amazing to wake up every day and still feel that passion.

Since it’s my anniversary, I read over the vows that I wrote for our ceremony. Those heartfelt words still ring true. I hope my beloved doesn’t mind that I publicly share some of my words.

You understand the language of my heart
and for the first time in my life, I have found love.
It’s delicate, a response that we create in every moment,
not based in the past or the future, but in each moment.
I promise to trust Love,
to trust my heart,
to trust you, to trust all of me.
I acknowledge you as my soul mate, my path,
my Love, my spiritual partner.

Happy Anniversary Baby!

The Happy Couple

  1. It has been the best 8 years of my life! I love our story, I love our life together, I love you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and if it weren’t for your love, I wouldn’t be the “better end of the deal”. But frankly, the way life is, I think we both are pretty darn lucky to have found each other and because of the love and commitment we have toward each other and our family, we’ve sustained a loving, happy, “blended” home for our girls. And that’s no easy task!
    Happy Anniversary my love.
    I love you…in all ways.

  11. I still feel this way sweetheart! It’s been a long road from then to now but my love and commitment to you is still as strong as when we started this journey. Nothing is as important to me than you and our family.
