Art in the Everyday

“Photography is a small voice, at best, but sometimes one photograph, or a group of them, can lure our sense of awareness.” William Eugene Smith Art is everywhere. It’s an awareness. Even everyday objects hold innate beauty. These images are part of a series I’m shooting this year to push myself creatively and see in…

Beautiful work, Randy – now can you just imagine a bride in this environment – WOW !

RandyFebruary 4, 2008 - 9:27 am

Why yes I can Gill.. :)

This would not work for just any bride, as most of these areas are pretty dirty, so perhaps a bride that wants a creative session in her dress? That would be amazing!

Can I just say how cool it is that I have the UK contingent checking out my blog? That just made my day! I’m International!

These are gorgeous. I’m really glad you’re doing personal projects. I think it will be really good for you, for all of us!

GillFebruary 4, 2008 - 3:33 pm

Well, what can I say, your work reaches out across The Pond LOL

I look forward to seeing more during the hectic season :)

amberFebruary 4, 2008 - 5:35 pm

…lovin’ these! ;)

Randy,

I really like what you captured here. Great compositions and nice enhancements.

These stand out as favorites.

#1- Fuse Box; I love the look here with the warm tone box and the mysterious monotone background.

#2 – Tracks; I like its simplicity and perspective. This brings back memories when I was a kid and into model trains. As you said before us photographers are drawn to them.

#3 – Bridge Railing; What great tones and luminance these evoke. Looks way better than the real thing.

#7 – Reflection in Window; Although I have seen many variations on this, you really made this image your own with the opaque windows and the chosen color pallet. Nicely done, its one of Karin’s favorites too.

#8 – Rusty Building with Beam; The cold blue steel beam against the warm rusty tones of the old building, a great juxtaposition.

#10 – The translucent light on the windows and dark smokestacks. Lots of stories here.

#11 – Windows; Another one of Karin’s favorites.

Take care!

I think it is important to be alone and explore our creativity… finding art in our everyday. Just amusing ourself. Thanks for letting us see your musings! Very inspiring!

Leap and the Net will Appear

Each year begins with a promise of new beginnings. We set goals and challenge ourselves to do better. Transitioning from one year into the next brings the opportunity to mark time and renew ourselves. “Leap and the net will appear!” Quotes are a favorite obsession of mine. I find inspiration from the meditation of simple…

I can’t wait to see what 2008 brings you and us! It’s exciting and if we can tune out all the negativity that we read and hear each day, maybe we can alleviate some of that fear! Let’s jump, like we always do!

I was excited to see a new post from Randy Kepple on my RSS! :)

One of the reasons Patrick and I are so excited to have you photograph our wedding is precisely because of the artistry you bring to every image. We recognize that to keep things interesting and beautiful and fresh takes a tremendous amount of talent, but also hard work. Thank you for your willingness to push yourself and your art – that is a rare trait and we appreciate it!

While in Seattle, I had the opportunity to visit my friend Mat Hayward. A talented photographer who shoots weddings, sports (Seahawks), contributes to a stock agency, volunteers at the zoo, manages McGrath’s Fish House, in addition to raising two daughters and being married to a beautiful woman. (you may remember her sister) He’s a very…
