“The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.” Pablo Picasso Amber had change thrust on her in a big way. Little did she know a year ago that a storm...

Thanks CA! Amber has found great strength in herself through this process of change. You know her story as well as I do. Thanks for the comment, it makes this whole journey worthwhile!
Randy
well, my friend, i’m so incredibly touched that you asked me to be a part of this project. you are an incredible, inspirational artist, a great friend, and truly my personal hero.
the photos turned out amazing.
thank you so much…for everything.
Wow Randy…just wow.
I skipped reading the title of your post in my hurry to get to the images and found myself thinking as I was looking “I love how he brought life to these ruins”. Very apt description…
These photo’s are stunning! Truly beautiful. You are an inspirational photographer Randy.

Amazing! As always.
Hey Randy I went to your website to get your number to give you a call and thought I would stop by your blog to see what you have been up to and wanted to let you know the shots of your client in the run down scene are very cool, nice work. If you don’t mind me asking where is the scene at?
Take care and keep up the cool work.
I agree with Sarah, WOW! These are absolutely amazing. I love your use of the extreme wide angle lens. These shots make good justification for me to buy one for myself.
I think #7 and #8 capture and convey the story you most want to tell.
As Amber stepping out of her past (the darker reflection in water and all the ruin) and looking into the (brighter) future.
Good work!
Randy, great images!
And the way you write is really inspiring, too–deep and positive stuff.
Randy .. stunning photos of a very beautiful woman.
There’s this duality – in a sense you had it easy, working with Amber .. but there was also the challenge of matching up to the possibilities that photographing someone like Amber would offer.
You did great. And I love your writing.
That ease of writing and fluency is something I’d love to incorporate in my own writing. I’m envious.
Neil.
Really strong images. I love the contrast/lighting. And the saturation is so rich. Really amazing post-processing work. And the image composition is compelling.
Number 3 is the strongest image. I like it because it seems to say that she can now take on anything. The background unclear, but she is sharp and focuses. I like this one the best. What is your favorite?

It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” Elliot Erwitt Looking and seeing. Thanks for dropping by and leaving comments. I appreciate that you noticed the changes.
“The one thing in life we can count on is change.”
Ain’t that the truth?!
I love this building and I love the way you’ve create such interesting images of it.
Amazing, you are.
Beautiful Photographs Randy. I am very much looking forward to seeing the work you produce in 2008. I love that fact that you are constantly pushing yourself and evolving creatively. This project of yours is really great!

I love the abstractness our your view of the ruins. Very telling and emotional. These photos are a reminder that some change can be distructive and damaging. Yet some souls can see the beauty in the ruins, see beauty in change.
~~It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place~~
these are the exact words they thought us in the school of art and photography – many years ago…and I love to do “details” too the most.
Great blog!
it’s amazing how simple details often overlooked hold many stories.
and your photos reveal those untold stories.
good work.
Beautiful images, Where some would only see destruction, you have revealed art.
“Photography is a small voice, at best, but sometimes one photograph, or a group of them, can lure our sense of awareness.” William Eugene Smith Art is everywhere. It’s an awareness. Beautiful work, Randy – now can you just imagine a bride in this environment – WOW !
Why yes I can Gill..
This would not work for just any bride, as most of these areas are pretty dirty, so perhaps a bride that wants a creative session in her dress? That would be amazing!
Can I just say how cool it is that I have the UK contingent checking out my blog? That just made my day! I’m International!
These are gorgeous. I’m really glad you’re doing personal projects. I think it will be really good for you, for all of us!
Well, what can I say, your work reaches out across The Pond LOL
I look forward to seeing more during the hectic season
…lovin’ these!
Randy,
I really like what you captured here. Great compositions and nice enhancements.
These stand out as favorites.
#1- Fuse Box; I love the look here with the warm tone box and the mysterious monotone background.
#2 – Tracks; I like its simplicity and perspective. This brings back memories when I was a kid and into model trains. As you said before us photographers are drawn to them.
#3 – Bridge Railing; What great tones and luminance these evoke. Looks way better than the real thing.
#7 – Reflection in Window; Although I have seen many variations on this, you really made this image your own with the opaque windows and the chosen color pallet. Nicely done, its one of Karin’s favorites too.
#8 – Rusty Building with Beam; The cold blue steel beam against the warm rusty tones of the old building, a great juxtaposition.
#10 – The translucent light on the windows and dark smokestacks. Lots of stories here.
#11 – Windows; Another one of Karin’s favorites.
Take care!
I think it is important to be alone and explore our creativity… finding art in our everyday. Just amusing ourself. Thanks for letting us see your musings! Very inspiring!
Great work Randy, I have a student who will be so inspired by your work, thank you. Amber, very thought provoking images.
Love Ozzie
