BlogRush Widget
You’ll notice something new on my blog. It’s a widget called BlogRush. What is this and why should I care? Basically, it’s a traffic exchange. The goal is to reach more readers interested in what I’m writing and showing each week. The widget is cross referenced with other sites that have similar interests. When people click on the articles, it helps syndicate those articles through other sites that use the widget. It’s a way of reaching readers who may never find me and more importantly, it’s a fun way to discover a favorite new site.
I started this blog in 2005 when I redesigned my web site. My goal was to share stories and images from the weddings I photograph and other events that I think people would be interested in from the life of a professional photographer. It’s a way to stay connected with the wonderful people who hire me. The images are fresh and constantly changing and it shows my growth as an artist over a period of time. The more I can get readers to come here every week and visit, share comments and continue to have interest in my photography, the more people I can reach with my blog. But more importantly, it’s a way to show a growing body of work that doesn’t require a web site redesign every 6 months.
Most blog readers are bloggers themselves. If you’d like to join this collective of bloggers and help increase traffic to each other’s sites, then take a moment to sign up for yourself or send a friend to BlogRush. I have some ideas for the winter months that I hope you find interesting. I’m thinking of enlisting a group of photographers who will challenge each other to blog a picture a week. We may even attempt a picture a day. It would require a great deal of dedication, but what a great way to grow artistically. If you think this is a good idea or even a bad idea, leave a comment and let me know what you think. And since a blog post is worthless without in image (thanks Cory Anne) here is a random image from the archives.

Subscribe and eat it up!
As a photographer myself, and one who has been lurking around … what can I say, I enjoy your work! I think it would be a great idea to get several photographers together and do photos of the week. Day might be pushing it with my crazy schedule!
