May 23rd is my wedding anniversary. Eight years ago, we journeyed to Admiralty Head Lighthouse on Whidbey Island. We stood on a bluff overlooking the Pacific ocean and proclaimed our love and commitment to each other. The eagles cried overhead as the sun warmed our faces, our hearts warmed by love. It was truly a perfect moment— one I’ll never forget. On that day, I married my soul mate.

We’ve shared a lot of life together. I honestly think I got the better end of the deal, but she hasn’t left so our journey continues. Every couple should have a song. A song that always reminds me of my wife and our beginnings is Possession by Sarah Mclachlan. This is one of my favorite lines from her song…
And I would be the one
To hold you down
Kiss you so hard
I’ll take you’re breath away
And after I’d
Wipe away the tears
Just close your eyes dear
Tammy and I met at a wedding, so don’t ever doubt that I’m a hopeless romantic or that you can’t find love at a wedding. It happens. So does love at first sight. We have a great story and I’d be happy to share it with you sometime. Just ask me. The one constant in our ever changing lives is our commitment and love for each other. It’s amazing to wake up every day and still feel that passion.
Since it’s my anniversary, I read over the vows that I wrote for our ceremony. Those heartfelt words still ring true. I hope my love does not mind that I publicly share some of my words to her on our anniversary.
You understand the language of my heart
and for the first time in my life, I have found love.
It’s delicate, a response that we create in every moment,
not based in the past or the future, but in each moment.
I promise to trust Love,
to trust my heart,
to trust you, to trust all of me.
I acknowledge you as my soul mate, my path,
my Love, my spiritual partner.
Happy Anniversary Baby!
