Seasons of Change
Things change, they always do. It’s a part of life. No matter how hard you try to hold onto something. For better or for worse. Some things we don’t want changed in our lives. It’s comforting to know my favorite breakfast restaurant in Seattle, Vera’s in Ballard, will always have that California omelette waiting for me with those crisp, golden hash browns, thick sliced whole wheat toast with marionberry freezer jam and the best coffee in town.
Some changes are inevitable, like growing older or watching your children grow up despite wanting to keep them young forever. Other changes we bring upon ourselves and those changes can alter the paths of our lives. It’s time that you met a member of my team…Kristen. She came into my life through divine intervention, or so I like to think. She’s fond of talking about her life in seasons. Recently, she went through her own season of change. A haircut. Something so simple that has profoundly changed the way she’s perceived and feels about herself.

Meet Kristen, a wonderful addition to my business this summer. Hopefully she’ll be around another season. I’ve been told her mother reads my blog and hasn’t seen her dramatic change. So Mom…what do you think of your little girl now?
Change is good.
Subscribe and drink it up!
Kristen is beautiful with or without long hair! I think she looks more sophisticated and it just makes her already beautiful face stand out! Kudos to her for being so brave!
Kristen has always been beautiful, both inside and out! As her cautious sister, whose hairstyle never changes, I love her hair and her willingness to take a risk!
Tara,
Thanks for stopping by! Kristen talks about you all the time. I’m glad that her family is so supportive and I hope to meet all of you someday. Kristen is an amazing artist and I’ve been blessed to have her around this summer. She is inspiring, creative and talented. Listening to her busy schedule makes me tired! I don’t know how she packs it all in every day.
Where’s mom? Is it possible that she is more shy than Kristen?
Randy
My little girl has grown into a beautiful young woman, and I love her new haircut!
Thanks, Randy, for sharing your knowledge and expertise with Kristen. You have amazing talent, both as a writer and a photographer. Kristen is learning so much from you!
Also, thanks for letting us share in your weddings through your wonderful photoblog. It makes the distance from Kansas to Oregon seem a little less far!
Kristen’s Mom,
You’ve revealed yourself… now you’ve done it! Welcome!
Kristen is a wonderful woman. I now understand the phrase “the teacher becomes the student” as she is constantly challenging me with her insightful questions and keeps me looking at things from a new perspective. A muse of sorts.
Thanks for the kind words and I’m glad the Oregon Trail is alive and well in the digital world.
Randy
Okay, I’m sure she gets this all the time, but when I saw these photos, I swear I thought you photographed Olivia d’Abo. She was the older sister in the TV program, The Wonder Years and most recently I’ve seen her in Law and Order:Criminal Intent. If you don’t know who I’m talking about, do a search. The resemblence is quite astonishing.
Erio…great observation. I never would have made that connection, but after doing a Google search on Olivia d’Abo…well…you’re quite right!
Randy
Yep! She will be starring opposite Tim McGraw (lucky) in the film Flica…looks like a great movie, we can’t wait to see it. I wonder if Kristen has ever heard that before, especially with her long hair!
