Amy and Karl
Amy and Karl were married on the 26th of May. A day that threatened hail, rain and thunderstorms. An hour before we were supposed to start, there was a 20 minute hail storm. All of us were praying for a window of calm before the formals. Amy and Karl must have some connections upstairs because we were given a 45 minute window of opportunity to photograph their families and friends.
No pressure on me! Amy is the daughter of Vancouver photographers Gary and Karin Canazzi. Photographing the wedding of another photographer is always a pressure cooker. The expectations are very high and you want to do your very best. How does a photographer pick another photographer to photograph his daughter’s wedding? It’s an honor and a huge responsibility to have been chosen.
Having three daughters of my own, I can only imagine the range of emotions that Gary must have felt to walk his only daughter down the aisle. On the flip side, how surreal is it for the daughter of a photographer to be photographed at her own wedding? My daughters are the biggest hams in front of the camera. Are they natural? Yes and no. Trying to capture an honest emotion is very difficult, as they are always aware of being photographed. On the other hand, I didn’t have the opportunity to meet Karl until the wedding day. Within minutes of meeting him, I was impressed with his affable grace and charm. Neither one of them take a bad picture. Both are very natural and comfortable in front of the camera.

One of my favorite images of the day. Gary and his daughter sharing a moment just before they walked down the aisle. Gary later confided in me that walking his daughter down the aisle was one of the proudest moments in his life. He said it was like walking a celebrity down the red carpet. Being on the other side of the camera was so surreal. Everyone was looking at his daughter and his heart swelled with pride and love. He wished he could have hung onto that moment for just a moment longer. I hope this image helps capture that moment and keep it alive.

Congratulations Amy and Karl! It was a pleasure to meet both of your families and all your friends. It’s obvious to anyone that meets you that the two of you have a love that is deep and true. Best wishes for a lifetime of happiness!

Randy,
You continue to amaze me with your artistic abilities. We feel fortunate to have you as “our” photographer. Keep up the good work! P.S. Spencer looks like a model.
FYI…Spencer “is” a model! He is awesome to work with and doesn’t take a bad picture. Oh, and while we’re on the subject, thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. It’s greatly appreciated! I know there are a lot of people visiting the blog, but I honestly appreciate any comments you have about my work. I have the BEST clients in the world! Honestly! Thank you for helping me realize my passion.

Randy,
I was just about to get off my computer for the evening, when I decided to check your blog to see if you’d posted anything about us yet… And yay - there we are! The photos look absolutely amazing! We are very excited to see the rest of the pictures. Thank you so much for all your hard work. You have definitely pleased the professional photographer’s daughter.
I just called my dad to let him know this was up. I’m sure he will be as thrilled as we are.
Thanks again!
Amy (& Karl)
Dude, you’re just crank’in with your post pro aren’t you!
I love and admire your work, your words and you. Keep up the great work my love!
Randy - from one photographer to another you truly embody that complex blend which makes for a great wedding/portrait photographer— creativity, technical proficiency, impeccable timing, great people skills, a professional businessman and most importantly a real passion for making images.
A picture worth a thousand words? How about a picture worth a thousand dollars! Yep, you hit it Randy, with the one of Amy and I waiting to go down the isle. I’m so thankful you were there at that moment. I can’t wait the see all the other images you’ve captured that day, I’m sure there will be many more of equal value.
Not only was it like walking a celebrity down the red carpet, it was like having our own high-end celebrity photographer to capture it all. Thanks again for being there to catch those all too fleeting moments.

Randy, The photoblog about the kids really captured the day. As a photographer,
I totally understand all the challenges you faced. You did splendid. The
teaser photos were fantastic! But this mommy of the bride now understands so
much better why our clients are always calling when we said we would let them
know when their photos are ready. So I hope we get a call soonish…
thanks so much,
Karin
Wow…you guys are making me blush! Thanks to everyone for taking the time to leave their thoughts. It’s nice to hear people’s thoughts, especially when my work has touched their hearts. Words can’t express my gratitude.
